Capital of the Beaujolais

During your stay at our hotel and restaurant in Villefranche sur Saône, take the time to explore the capital of the Beaujolais and discover its unique heritage. Founded in the 12th century, it is home to magnificent historic structures like the Cour des Fleurons, a small 15th century gem, the Maison Giliquin house with its well, and the home of Madame Roland, with its grand façade and 18th century ironwork. Another not-to-be-missed spot is the rue Nationale, an open-air art gallery which runs for nearly a kilometre and opens onto the Notre-Dame des Marais collegial church, a registered historic monument featuring a Romanesque bell tower. Nearby, you can also explore the town's impressive and renowned covered market, whose architecture was inspired by religious art.
